Bahar Kimyongur is a symbol. He is the symbol of the threats that weight over our rights by the new anti terrorist laws.
To say that the irakien people have the right to resist the American invader is it a terrorist act? What about the organization of pacific demonstrations to support the Palestinian people?? And the opposition to the oppression by denouncing the tortures in turkish prisons?
For the CLEA, Committee for the freedom of speech and association, the answer is No!!!. To organise and protest is not terrorism. They are our fundamental rights guarantied by the Belgian and Dutch Constitutions.
Nevertheless, in virtue of the new anti terrorist legislations promoted by the Bush administration and recuperated by European Union, a critical citizen implication is considered as terrorism.
This absurd way of thinking leads to the dramatic situation we are living today, where a person that has committed no illegal action, that has always respected the rules of democracy, risks his life.
The Clea and the members of the European and Belgian Parliaments present at this conference call upon all citizens to sign the “Freedom for Bahar” petition at the Clea internet site, LeClea.be
The Clea asks the Belgian Government to take an official position to protect its national by obtaining his repatriation from Holland to Belgium. |
